Over Cape Town towers the great Table Mountain. It is often masked and shrouded by a wonderful white cloud, which covers its flat top like a cloth, and pours down its precipices. Even in perfect cloudless days, in the course of a few hours it can envelop half the mountain. It is well known to seamen by the name of the Devil's Table Cloth.
